The peak intensity of a flash lamp is much higher than a continuous light source. The PMA2135 detector captures the peak intensity and displays it on the PMA2100 every five seconds. In addition to the peak intensity, the PMA2135 integrates and stores a single pulse dose. The peak intensity of the radiation is displayed in mW/cm2 or W/cm2. The full scale is specified by the customer at the time of ordering. The dose full scale is mJ/cm2 or J/cm2. The photodetector has an active area of 0.474 square inches. The PTFE hemispherical photopic detector has an excellent cosine response, which allows accurate measurement of point or long light sources.
Instrument Introduction: The spectral response of the human eye changes with light intensity. The human eye has two specific spectral responses, defined by the brightness of the light entering the eye. The first spectral response occurs under normal daytime lighting conditions (photopic), i.e. light intensities above 0.1 Lux. The second spectral response occurs under low light conditions (scotopic), i.e. light intensities between 0.0001-0.001 Lux. Light intensities less than 0.0001 Lux are difficult for the human eye to detect. The shift of the human eye from photopic to scotopic response is called the Purkinje Shift. This detector is an ideal test tool for flash lamps used in the curing industry. The peak intensity of a flash lamp is much higher than a continuous light source.
